English clubs continue to tap into Africa’s talent pool. This time, Manchester United has set its sights on a promising young Senegal U17 international.

His name is Étienne Mendy, and he plays with the U17 team of Diambars FC in the land of the Lions of Teranga. The youngster is tipped for a bright future.

According to Mercato 13 football, the right winger is currently on trial with the Red Devils. If he impresses during his tests, he could land a contract with the English powerhouse.

The same source notes that Mendy isn’t the only Senegalese player eyeing the Premier League—Sidy Barhama Ndiaye also caught Liverpool’s attention before him.

The 17-year-old took part in the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, making two substitute appearances: one against Somalia in the group stage and another against Ivory Coast in the quarterfinals.
