Germany manager Julian Naglesmann has re-emerged on Manchester United’s radar, as per reports.

More pressure mounted on Erik ten Hag after October’s international break, as United fell to 14th place in the Premier League table with a frustrating defeat at the hands of West Ham United.

After the 2-1 defeat in London, Gary Neville suggested that a loss against Chelsea early in November would lead to “unbearable” pressure around Ten Hag.

However, the club’s hierarchy decided to not wait any longer and have parted ways with Ten Hag with immediate effect.

According to TBR Football, United have been exploring their options, having held talks with potential Ten Hag replacements in recent weeks. The report claims that the senior figures at the club have spoken to up to three candidates.

In their statement, United announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy “will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”

However, United are believed to be not too keen on appointing a long-term interim manager after sacking Ten Hag.

Accordingly, they will, if needed, pay compensation to secure the services of their new permanent boss.

Naglesmann, who impressed clubs across Europe with his tactics at RB Leipzig, was linked with United during the summer, and it is reported that he is “once again under consideration.”

The Germany head coach has so far suggested he is focused on leading his side to the 2026 World Cup. As such, it will be interesting to see how United’s willingness to cough up compensation would impact his and the German FA’s stance.

As per Sam C, United are “going try their luck and approach” the 37-year-old tactician.

United also like Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorin, but it is thought that neither of those are looking to leave their respective sides mid-season.
