Aurelien Tchouameni may have been the only bright spark in an otherwise dismal performance from the Real Madrid midfield last season.
But that hasn’t stopped the Frenchman from being linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu this summer, as part of Jose Mourinho’s squad overhaul.
Manchester United have emerged as the main contender to sign Tchouameni, who is suffering from an injury heading into France’s quarterfinal clash against Morocco.
According to Jose Felix Diaz, in the Ruben Martin livestream, Manchester United are ready to put significant money on the table to secure the signing of Tchouameni.

The English club find themselves obliged to reinforce their central midfield following Casemiro’s departure to Inter Miami.
Their primary target had been Mateus Fernandes, but the Portuguese midfielder has already signed for Tottenham from West Ham, forcing United to turn their attention elsewhere.
Tchouameni has now emerged as a prime candidate, with the club prepared to commit to a five-year deal to bring him to Old Trafford.
First contacts regarding a potential deal, which would rank among the biggest of the transfer window, are expected in the coming days, as reported earlier.

As mentioned earlier, Tchouameni was one of Real Madrid’s better-performing midfielders from last season and the player, for his part, remains keen on staying at the Bernabeu.
However, the opportunity at Man United cannot be ignored given that he will likely gain more prominence and clout in the Premier League.
Real Madrid, in contrast, are likely to bring in a new central midfielder this summer, with Enzo Fernandez being the prime target for Los Blancos.
For now, though, the French international will be keen on getting back to full fitness after picking up a knock in the lead up to the Round of 16 tie against Paraguay.
The midfielder is a doubt heading into the Morocco match, with Manu Kone ready to deputise for him.
