As Manchester United prepare for another busy summer of transfer activity, the need for a new striker is high on manager Ruben Amorim’s agenda. With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee currently leading the line, Amorim is looking to bolster his forward options, and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic is reportedly at the top of the list.
Since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in 2022, Dusan Vlahovic has shown glimpses of his considerable talent. The 25-year-old striker has netted 55 goals in 135 appearances, a solid return for a player still finding his feet in one of Europe’s top leagues. His performances have caught the attention of multiple clubs, including Manchester United, who are eager to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United are plotting a move for the ‘world-class’ Vlahovic, who currently earns £315,000 per week, making him Serie A’s highest earner. However, Juventus are reportedly keen to slash their wage bill, offering Vlahovic a new contract with reduced terms. This has led to tension between the player and the club, with Vlahovic seemingly unwilling to accept a pay cut. His current deal runs until 2026, but with contract talks stalled, it seems increasingly likely that he will be available for transfer this summer.
Vlahovic is not short of suitors, and several top clubs are eyeing the Serbian forward. As GiveMeSport reports, Arsenal and Aston Villa are also keen on securing his signature, with all three clubs prepared to battle for his services. However, it is Manchester United who appear to be leading the charge, with Amorim reportedly determined to add a new centre-forward to his squad this summer.
The report mentions that Vlahovic is one of four elite forwards shortlisted by Amorim, alongside Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap, and Samu Aghehowa. While none of these targets will come cheap, Vlahovic’s availability for around £50 million makes him a tempting prospect for Manchester United, who are looking to invest wisely this summer.

Juventus’ financial difficulties have played a significant role in the club’s desire to reduce their wage bill. According to GiveMeSport, the club had already opened talks with Vlahovic over a new deal but proposed a significant pay cut, which the striker has not been willing to accept. This impasse has led to speculation that Vlahovic will look for a new challenge elsewhere, and with his contract expiring in 2026, Juventus may decide to cash in now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the future.
Given Vlahovic’s profile, it’s likely that he will have multiple offers to consider in the coming months. Manchester United’s interest, combined with the strong competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa, ensures that the 25-year-old will be in high demand this summer.

The prospect of signing Dusan Vlahovic is an intriguing one. While there is no doubt about his talent, the question remains whether he is the right fit for United’s style of play. Vlahovic’s physicality and goal-scoring record make him an attractive option, but his ability to adapt to the Premier League and perform consistently in a United shirt is something to consider.
The issue surrounding Vlahovic’s wage demands is also worth noting. While £50 million may seem reasonable for a player of his calibre, United must be cautious when it comes to signing players on inflated wages. The club has seen its fair share of high-profile signings fail to deliver, and bringing in a player who demands a massive salary without the guarantee of success could prove costly in the long run.
That said, Vlahovic’s arrival could provide the competition and firepower that United have lacked in recent seasons. With Hojlund still developing and Zirkzee offering limited depth, adding a player of Vlahovic’s quality could help United challenge for titles once again. As a fan, it’s hard not to be excited about the prospect of Vlahovic lining up alongside the club’s existing attacking talent, but it’s also a reminder of the need for careful planning and consideration in the transfer market.
