Manchester United players believe Bruno Fernandes may be paving the way for an Old Trafford exit with his recent interview, according to talkSPORT.

The Man United captain revealed in the interview that the Red Devils were ready to sell him to Saudi in the last summer transfer window.

Fernandes said he was left hurt after realising the club wanted him out, and there is a feeling within the Man United dressing room that this could be his last season at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Portuguese has been a key player under manager Ruben Amorim this term despite a change of roles, with five goals and seven assists to his name in 16 Premier League appearances.

Fernandes ended last term with 19 goals and 19 assists across all competitions, but he was constantly linked with an exit in the summer.

The 31-year-old is out of contract in June 2027, with the option for a further year in his deal.

He has 103 goals and 93 assists in 307 games for Man United since joining them from Sporting CP and has been their best player since then.

However, it appears the Red Devils are open to cashing in on him, and his latest interview speaks volumes.

Fernandes has proven himself in the Premier League and still has plenty to offer despite his age.

His decision to tell it all to the press means he is not afraid to be sold, and this summer could represent the best chance the club have to make good money from a sale.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season will deal a huge blow on Man United’s chances of holding on to Fernandes.

He is one of their highest-paid players, and letting him and Casemiro leave could be necessary if they miss out on the money that comes with qualifying for and playing in the elite European competition again.
