Dalot, who played 90 minutes at left-wing back against the Clarets, then withdrew from Portugal’s squad during the international break with a ‘muscle discomfort’.

Speaking ahead of the first Manchester derby of the season at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Amorim confirmed the trio are unavailable for selection despite pushing hard to feature.

He said: "They are out for this game, I don’t know how long it’s going to take. We need these guys to be a competitive team.

"We have very good players, who are eager to play, so we will be competitive on Sunday. But they are out.

"I don’t want to say (how long they will be out for). If you talk to Cunha outside, he will say he can play this game. They are pushing really hard."

Ruled out: Matheus Cunha, Diogo Dalot and Mason Mount

Cunha, Mount and Dalot have been ever-present for Man Utd this season, featuring in all three Premier League games so far as well as the Carabao Cup second round penalty shoot-out defeat to Grimsby Town.

As a result of their absences, Amorim will be forced into making several changes to his matchday squad.

This will also include a first sighting for Deadline Day signing Senne Lammens, though the goalkeeper will not start the Manchester derby.

Altay is going to continue. It is a different league, a different country, different training, different ball,” Amorim said.

“So we will try to maintain that and they will fight for the position but for me in this game is clear, Altay will start."
