Manchester United are interested in Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni as they step up their search for a successor to Casemiro.
United want at least two midfielders in the summer as part of their rebuilding job and are considering the France international. Casemiro is leaving Old Trafford when his contract expires and, though Kobbie Mainoo is close to signing a new deal, United only have three specialist central midfielders, with Michael Carrick instead using captain Bruno Fernandes as a No 10 now.
United were interested in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba last summer while Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are also expected to feature prominently in their thinking.
Tchouameni, who cost Real €80m in 2022, has been a regular across four years at the Bernabeu, making 44 appearances so far this season. But Real are expected to look for midfield reinforcements while other players have voiced their interest in joining the 15-time European champions, including Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Manchester City’s Rodri.
Tchouameni, 26, has won La Liga and the Champions League during his time at Real as well as playing in the 2022 World Cup final for France. United have signed from Real Madrid in recent seasons, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Casemiro.
