Leeds United could face a battle to keep first-choice goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer, with Manchester United said to be considering an approach as his contract runs down. The Athletic reports that the 35-year-old is under consideration at Old Trafford.

Darlow made 22 Premier League appearances last season, stepping in for Lucas Perri and delivering a string of composed displays. He was nominated for save of the season and has become Wales’ No 1 under Craig Bellamy.

United are thought to be seeking depth behind Senne Lammens, with back-up Altay Bayindir expected to leave. Homegrown status could make Darlow an attractive option.

Asked in April about his goalkeepers, Daniel Farke declined to discuss futures until anything is confirmed, but underlined how much he trusts and values Darlow. He highlighted picking him in crunch time and noted that Darlow has kept out the highly rated Perri. He said people could read between the lines.

Outside interest introduces uncertainty, although the report added that Leeds want to keep the Welsh international and plan to offer a new deal. Leeds also secured Ethan Ampadu on a new four-year contract last week, with chairman Parag Marathe stressing it was important for him and Farke to keep the squad core together.
