Sunderland will monitor Jobe Bellingham’s situation closely after the midfielder was linked with Manchester United.
According to TEAMtalk, United are assessing midfield options ahead of the summer window, with Bellingham among those tracked alongside Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Atalanta’s Ederson. The report also notes Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have followed his progress since his Birmingham City days.
Sunderland negotiated a 15 per cent sell-on in last summer’s deal. Any payout would depend on whether it applies to the full fee or only to profit. At 15 per cent of the fee, £20m would return £3m, rising to £9m on £60m.
He joined Sunderland from Birmingham City in 2023 and quickly became a key figure. He scored his first senior goals in a 2-1 win over Rotherham, signed new terms in August 2024 and was named 2025 EFL Championship Young Player of the Season before starting the play-off final win over Sheffield United.
Bellingham then joined Borussia Dortmund last summer for £27.8m plus £4.2m in add-ons, a record sum received by a newly promoted Premier League club. He signed a five-year contract and has started 18 of the club’s last 20 matches under Niko Kovac, making 31 Bundesliga appearances this season and 48 in all competitions, with one goal.
