Arsenal were made to rue missed chances as Manchester United found a late equaliser to preserve their unbeaten record in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Manchester United looked to be surrendering their unbeaten record against a dominant Arsenal until a late equaliser. Alessia Russo opened her WSL account for the season against her former side, after Mariona Caldentey and Emily Fox combined to set her up to sweep the ball home just after the hour mark. The scores were levelled with eight minutes left, United subs combined as Rachel Williams nodded on a corner and Melvine Malard backheaded the ball over Daphne van Domselaar in front of a record Leigh Sports Village crowd of 8,340. With the last kick of the match, Arsenal’s Lia Walti went very close to restoring the lead.

Crystal Palace struggled to keep Manchester City at bay and five minutes before the break they fell behind. The ball fell to Jess Park nearly 25 yards out and she hit a fine strike over Shae Yanez into the far top corner. Five minutes after the interval, the lead was doubled when the ball fell to Jill Roord in the Palace box. Khadija Shaw made it 3-0 when heading home a cross by Park.

Chelsea were on their way to victory at Everton, with two quick goals before the break to add to a 13th-minute opener. Aggie Beever-Jones headed in Kadeisha Buchanan’s cross, Erin Cuthbert dispossessed Veatriki Sarri to tuck away the second, Guro Reiten then scoring the third on the slide to meet Sjoeke Nusken’s ball to the far post. Another quick double came late on, Wieke Kaptein with a smart finish and Ashley Lawrence turning in a Oriane Jean-François cross.

Brighton made it four wins from six with a single-goal success over Leicester City. The decisive moment came after 20 minutes, when Nikita Parris hit the back of the net with a diving header.
Tottenham came from behind to beat West Ham with a late own-goal. Riko Ueki headed Viviane Asseyi’s corner in off the crossbar but Spurs levelled at the third attempt five minutes after the restart, Martha Thomas denied by Kinga Szemik, Matilda Vinberg hitting the post and Beth England eventually putting the ball in the net. The hosts were gifted a stoppage-time winner as Camila Sáez – under pressure from Lenna Gunning-Williams – lifted the ball over her own keeper and into the net.
Taylor Hinds struck two first-half goals for Liverpool, which proved to be enough for the victory away to Aston Villa. Leanne Kiernan and then Grace Fisk provided the crosses with which Hinds capped sweeping moves. Gabi Nunes halved the deficit five minutes after the restart, heading home from a Lucy Staniforth cross. Miri Taylor was denied a stoppage-time equaliser, as Rachel Laws turned her rocket round the far post.
