Manchester United have parted company with women's head coach Marc Skinner by mutual consent, the club announced on Monday. The change comes just weeks before the new campaign.

The 43-year-old departs after five years in charge, having taken the job in 2021. United are due to open their season on four September against London City.

Skinner leaves with one year remaining on his deal. He had recently called for greater investment to sustain the team's progress. His exit also follows a relatively quiet window, highlighted by the departure of French forward Melvine Malard to Chelsea.

During his tenure, United reached three successive Women's FA Cup finals, lifting the 2024 trophy, the club's first major honour. They finished second in the Women's Super League in 2023.

Last season they reached the Champions League quarter-finals and the League Cup final. No successor has yet been named.
