Ruben Amorim hoping for key midfield boost ahead of showdown at Old Trafford
Manchester United are hoping to welcome back Manuel Ugarte for their Europa League showdown against Real Sociedad.
The tie is finely poised as both sides look to make it into the quarter-finals of the competition after United drew 1-1 with Sociedad out in Spain last week.
Ruben Amorim’s side followed that up another 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Sunday, impressing in the second-half against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Ugarte could be back in contention for the second leg of the Sociedad clash after sitting out the first.
Harry Maguire also missed that game but is thought to be further back in his recovery.
United will need to make a decision on Leny Yoro too after the Frenchman was forced off with a foot problem at half-time against the Gunners. January signing Ayden Heaven is among the options to replace Yoro if he cannot make it.
Amorim has Patrick Dorgu available despite a domestic suspension following a red card against Ipswich last month, although none of his other injured players are expected to feature.
Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount could feature before the end for the season but Thursday’s game will almost certainly come too early for them.
Young striker Chido Obi is ineligible for Europa League competition, having not been registered.
