Michael Carrick without three first-team players as he bids to continue Old Trafford resurgence
Manchester United remain without three players for today’s visit of Tottenham in the Premier League today, as Michael Carrick names an unchanged team.
Patrick Dorgu, Matthijs de Ligt and Mason Mount are all sidelined through injury as interim coach Carrick bids to field a side that can deliver his fourth win on the bounce as interim head coach.
Mason Mount had been expected to return in time for the fixture against Tottenham after he injured himself in training last week, but Carrick described him as “not too far away” in Thursday’s pre-match press conference.
Senne Lammens remains United’s first-choice goalkeeper and the back four will likely remain intact, despite Harry Maguire conceding a late penalty last week which set up a frantic finish.
Casemiro, who headed home Bruno Fernandes’ corner for the opener against Fulham, pairs up with the Carrick-preferred Kobbie Mainoo in the centre of midfield.
Elsewhere, skipper Fernandes continues to be United’s talisman, having registered more assists than any other Premier League player so far this season, and will be supported on his right by Amad Diallo.
Matheus Cunha deputises for Dorgu again, having proven himself to be a valuable option on the left flank after scoring in successive games, behind Bryan Mbeumo.
