Sky Germany (via @iMiaSanMia)reports that Manuel Neuer is now contemplating extending his playing career with Bayern Munich after retiring from international football.
Following Neuer’s retirement earlier this week, it means he can now solely focus on club football with Bayern and with his contract at the club expiring next summer talks will likely have to begin before the new year to decide on his future.
A decision is only expected to be made at the earliest next year and even then it will depend on Neuer’s fitness levels as in recent years the 38-year-old has struggled with injuries big and small.
What this means for Alexander Nübel is yet to be seen, the Paderborn native has long been tipped as Neuer’s successor but has never had the chance to assert himself at Bayern and has spent the majority of the time on loan at AS Monaco and now VfB Stuttgart.
Earlier this year, Nübel signed a contract extension at Bayern until 2029 and will be on loan at Stuttgart until 2026, if Neuer is still in goal again then a situation could arise similar to the beginning of 2023 when the 38-year-old broke his leg.
