Manuel Neuer has confirmed the 2026 World Cup this summer will be his final tournament with Germany, speaking at the national team's press conference this evening.

He is not planning to play the Euros in two years and wants to enjoy each game rather than think about a farewell or a potential last match.

"I absolutely believe the team is capable of [winning] it, otherwise I wouldn't be here. To win my second World Cup would of course be very special for me. If I didn't see a chance, I wouldn't be sitting here today."

"Jonas is on a very good path and has it all in his own hands. But I also have to say that my other colleagues are doing very well at their clubs. I have respect for all our goalkeepers."

Having come out of retirement to represent the four-time world champions, Neuer maintains a very good relationship with Oliver Baumann, whom he displaced. In Herzogenaurach they spoke at length and were candid, praising Baumann's outstanding work and noting that Germany have four top goalkeepers.
