Marc-Andre ter Stegen to leave Barcelona training camp for Ajax transfer | OneFootball

One of the operations that FC Barcelona have been working on for quite some time now and which has dragged on unexpectedly is that of Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s departure on loan to the Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam.

The German goalkeeper returned to the Blaugrana club after his last season’s loan at Girona, and the Catalans have now finalized his move to the Eredivisie side, as they have Joan Garcia and Wojciech as their starting and backup goalkeepers, respectively, for next season.

Despite the delays in this move, it seems like Ter Stegen’s departure is now imminent. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the goalie has already finalized his move, which was being held up because of some tax-related issues, and he will leave the Barcelona training camp in Saint George’s Park today, on Friday, to sign with Ajax.

The shot-stopper did not participate in the afternoon session on Thursday, as he was working on his transfer. Today, he will bid farewell to his coach and teammates, and will leave the camp. For now, it remains to be seen whether he will first stop at Barcelona to pack his bags, but his ultimate destination this summer remains Amsterdam.

Although most of the work on the transfer had been done some weeks ago, the goalkeeper put a hold on this operation as he wanted to clarify which of two involved clubs, who will both pay his salary, would cover his taxes, which are significantly higher in the Netherlands than in Spain.

Thus, Marc-Andre ter Stegen continued to train with his Barcelona teammates under Hansi Flick, and also travelled with the Catalans for their training camp in England. However, he is expected to complete his transfer today, as Michel wanted to have him available for the UEFA Conference League, whose squad registration deadline is 31July.
