Manchester United are already planning how to improve their squad in the winter and summer market.
After spending in the attacker and keeper departments, it is thought that the Red Devils will look to bolster their midfield and defence over the coming windows.
With Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof both leaving the club in the summer, it was surprising that no centre back option was signed as a replacement.
Moreover, with Ruben Amorim sticking to a 3-4-3 formation, it has meant that traditional full backs Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui have played their fair share of games at centre back this season.
Lisandro Martinez is also on the cusp of returning from injury but he has not played since the very start of February and his current level or ability to stay fit is currently unknown.
United have been frequently linked to a move for the Crystal Palace defender, alongside a host of other top clubs.
The England international looked to be moving to Liverpool in August but the deal fell through in the last seconds of the window.
It is also thought that the player will be available for the knockdown price of just €20 million in the January window with his contract expiring in the summer.
Reportedly United “hold no fear” going up against England and Europe’s elite to sign the player and are prepared “to go all out” and offer a huge sum of money to beat Real Madrid to the defender.
Nonetheless, The Sun reports that, “Real Madrid are confident of landing Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer.”
The article adds that, “the La Liga giants believe Guehi favours a move to join England pals Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Spanish capital after the World Cup.”
It is also stated that Guehi is not interested in making a move in the middle of the season, hence he will be leaving on a free transfer at the end of his current contract.
