Paris FC announced on Wednesday that Marco Neppe will take over as sporting director from October. After his playing career ended in 2014, Neppe joined Bayern as a scout. Just before he left the club by a mutual agreement a decade later, the now 39-year-old was the technical director.
Neppe worked for a few months as an advisor for the MLS side Toronto FC until March. He’ll now replace François Ferracci as Paris FC’s sporting director starting from next week. The Ligue 1 side acquired Kevin Trapp in the last days of the transfer market from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The newly-promoted club is also one of those monitored by the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, a certain Jurgen Klopp. Red Bull is a 10.6% minority shareholder in a club managed by the Arnaud family, which is listed at the top of the Forbes list in France.
"Marco Neppe brings with him extensive experience at one of Europe's biggest clubs, and a prestigious track record," said the French businessman and Paris FC president Pierre Ferracci. Neppe’s predecessor is the son of the club’s president.
Paris FC’s owner Antoine Arnault also commented on their new appointment. "As part of the partnership with Red Bull that we have built since taking over Paris FC, we wanted to fill the club's sporting management with an experienced manager who has already held similar positions at an international club.
“We are counting on Marco Neppe to consolidate Paris FC's presence in Ligue 1, and provide us with the resources for our future ambitions."
