Marco Rose: "You'll certainly see me back!"

It was quite surprising to see Marco Rose not return to the footballing stage over the summer. His departure from RB Leipzig came in late March, and with several clubs on the lookout for a new coach ahead of the 2025/26 season, many expected him to be back on the sidelines sooner rather than later.

Rose has enjoyed a strong few years in the Bundesliga, coaching Borussia Mönchengladbach in 88 games (1.61 points per game), Borussia Dortmund in 46 games (1.85 points per game), and most recently his hometown club RB Leipzig in 124 games (1.85 points per game).

His time at Leipzig ultimately had to come to an end, as there was a clear lack of development visible during his final season. That said, Rose has more than proven himself as a capable Bundesliga coach, having won both the DFB-Pokal and the German Supercup, while also achieving impressive league finishes — 4th with Gladbach, 2nd with Dortmund, and 3rd with Leipzig.

In a recent interview with Kicker, Rose opened up about his plans for the future:

“I definitely want to get back on the bench, but it doesn't have to be today, tomorrow or the day after. I believe the day will come. You'll certainly see me back on a training ground and in the stadium! It just has to be right — and maybe this time it’s going to be abroad.”
