Marco Silva wants António Silva to stay in the Benfica squad next season and is planning with the centre-back. Talk in Italy of a preliminary agreement with Milan to 2031 has, for now, been played down in Portugal.
Record writes that Milan do not view the Portugal international as a priority and are not prepared to meet the reported figures, with Ruben Amorim said to have other positions marked as more urgent.
Benfica’s focus is to extend his contract. The club have already presented a renewal offer to the defender, who remains one of their most valuable assets.
António Silva has acknowledged that discussions are ongoing and that his future is still undecided. He indicated a proposal arrived in the final week of the season before the Estoril match, adding that nothing is guaranteed.
Within the Benfica hierarchy, Rui Costa and Mário Branco have expressed optimism about his continuity, stressing that the renewal process is under way and that the final decision rests with the player.
