Marco Silva leaves left-back out as Benfica plan Tiago Parente exit

Tiago Parente will leave Benfica this summer after being excluded from plans for 2026/27.

According to Glorioso 1904, the left-back has been told he is not part of the new sporting project. All parties see a move as the best route to secure regular minutes.

Despite the decision, he saw reasonable game time last season. In 2025/26 he made 30 appearances, 25 for the B team, three for the under-23s and two for the juniors, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Intense competition and a strategic reset led by Rui Costa and Marco Silva have sharply reduced his prospects of staying. The club believes a new competitive context will help him play consistently.

The 20-year-old is preparing for a new challenge away from Seixal as the squad is remodelled for the new campaign.
