Former Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi has signed a four-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur, according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club have also included a one-year option in the deal.

Spurs have been looking to sign Senesi in recent months once it became clear that he was going to leave Bournemouth at the end of the just-concluded season and become a free agent.

The Argentina international has already undergone his medicals and an official announcement could be on the cards.

Tottenham signed Scotland international Andrew Robertson earlier this week after he left Liverpool, and manager Roberto De Zerbi is set to add another free signing to his ranks in a huge boost.

The Italian wants a squad overhaul and has started with his defence, with two of the most experienced stalwarts in the Premier League moving to the North London club.

Both Senesi and Robertson will also be bringing much-needed leadership to the Spurs dressing room.

It is something that has been lacking at Tottenham since the likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-Min left in recent seasons.

The Lilywhites will also look to splash the cash and recruit top players, but failure to qualify for Europe has dealt a blow on their transfer budget for the summer transfer window.

It is why they are considering a fresh move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha after opting not to activate the option to buy him.

The 30-year-old Portuguese joined Spurs on loan last summer, with an option to buy him for €30 million included in the deal.

It has since expired and they are looking to pay less for Palhinha and also sign him on reduced wages after failing to qualify for Europe.
