Manchester United are trying to offload multiple forwards this summer permanently, including Marcus Rashford, but so far, their attempts have failed miserably.

Aston Villa had the option of securing the Mancunian’s signature permanently after a solid loan spell, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League put paid to those hopes.

For over six months now, the Englishman has seemed hell-bent on moving to Barcelona, but so far, the Catalans have stayed away from submitting a concrete offer.

The 27-year-old is even open to waiting it out till the final days of the summer window to get his wish, but all doors to the Camp Nou seem to be closing and fast, and alternate routes might need to be explored.

Rashford’s future

Newcastle had emerged as a surprising option, but that is unlikely to pan out with the Carrington graduate eager to move abroad.

The Manchester Evening News have claimed Turkey and Saudi Arabia do not figure highly in the player’s mind, and Inter Milan have emerged as a shock option.

The Nerazzurri were known to be chasing Rasmus Hojlund’s signature for sometime now. But so far, a deal has not panned out and they have shifted their focus to the United superstar.

The only problem: they are in no position to pay his £40 million asking price, and will only entertain a loan. And INEOS could be forced to consider this given the lack of genuine exit options.

“Manchester United are preparing for the possibility of sending Marcus Rashford out on loan for the entirety of next season.

Rashford, 27, wants to join a Champions League club and has not entertained a potentially lucrative move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey and United sources believe there is a low possibility that a suitable bidder will come in for the £40million-rated forward.

“Inter Milan tentatively enquired about Rashford when they expressed interest in Rasmus Hojlund earlier this month but the Champions League finalists would only consider a loan deal.

Inter Milan enquire about Marcus Rashford

“Senior United figures expect Rashford to move abroad this summer. Although Rashford has not ruled out joining a Premier League club he does not want to move to London.”

His current wages also represent a stumbling block for most English sides, and so far, the forward has shown no indication of being open to reducing his wage demands for any other club except Barca.

While a permanent solution would have been the ideal choice, Marcus Rashford has a deal with United until 2028 which means INEOS are in no hurry to sell.

If the player ends up having a stunning loan stint, his price could go up even further, which could benefit the Red Devils even more owing to his homegrown status, which means a sale will bring pure profit.
