Manchester United need to expedite their outgoings if INEOS are to fully back Ruben Amorim in the market, and Marcus Rashford is one of the big-name players expected to depart.
He had a major falling-out with the head coach last season, resulting in his loan exit to Aston Villa in the January transfer window, with the Premier League outfit having the option to buy him outright for £40 million.
But the Birmingham-based club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League meant a deal for the Mancunian was no longer possible.
Whether the player would have agreed is also a major doubt, with the 27-year-old always inclined towards a move to Barcelona.
But the Catalans stayed away in the winter, and so far, have prioritised Nico Williams over the Carrington graduate. But as per SPORT, they could return later in the window if the conditions for a deal are favourable as they still are one forward short.
The United No.10 is so hellbent on joining the Catalans that he is even ready to reduce his wage demands, and the Red Devils will have to agree to another loan deal for now.
And as the Spanish publication have now claimed, Marcus Rashford has even rejected the overtures of Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa and Saudi Pro League sides in order to complete a dream move to the Camp Nou.
“Rashford remains determined to sign for Barça and has made this clear to the Blaugrana club.
“His brother even traveled to Barcelona to meet with Deco, and they made one point clear: Rashford is willing to push for a loan from United and reduce his salary to the point where Barça can secure his registration.
“Barça has made it very clear to Rashford what the situation is and that he will have to wait, perhaps almost all summer.
“The club is now working on signing two new signings—Joan and Nico—and will then pursue other things slowly. And, for now, Rashford seems to understand this, rejecting Saudi Arabia, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa.”
The Peoples Person had relayed the Magpies’ interest in the Englishman, but it seems INEOS have very little chance of an outright sale this window, given the player’s adamant stance on only joining Barcelona.
The co-owners have so far struggled with regards to outgoings as seen from their inability to move on Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.
Hopefully, United will include an obligation to buy in the loan contract to avoid yet another saga from unfolding next summer.
