Although he has not been a fixed starter for Hansi Flick, Marcus Rashford has still had quite a fruitful loan stint at FC Barcelona, having arrived at the Catalan club in the last summer transfer window. He has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists so far, and is contributing a goal every 89 minutes.
Still, his future at the Blaugrana club is not clear, as the club is yet to make a decision on whether they should activate his €30 million purchase clause.
The Blaugraes are also considering negotiating a lower fee or even exploring another loan due to financial constraints and squad planning.
On the other hand, the Englishman himself is very clear about his intentions. According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford only wants to stay at Barcelona and is not considering a return to Manchester United at this point. He believes the team’s style suits his qualities and feels comfortable and valued within the squad.
The player had already agreed to a preliminary contract with Barcelona a few months ago, accepting reduced financial terms to facilitate a permanent move. He is also open to making further sacrifices if required, showing his strong desire to continue at the club.
At the same time, his age means any potential deal would likely be shorter, which adds complexity to the operation from a financial perspective.
For now, Rashford is focused on convincing Flick through his performances. The German coach appreciates his professionalism, attitude, and commitment, although there are still some doubts internally regarding certain displays and tactical decisions.
Despite strong competition in attack, Rashford has remained patient and understands his rotational role within a highly competitive squad. With the summer window approaching, Barcelona will have to make a final decision soon, while the player himself is keen to resolve his future before the start of the FIFA World Cup.
