Manchester United are likely to address the glaring lack of quality out wide once the summer transfer window opens.
Since Ruben Amorim decided to let go of Marcus Rashford, they have lacked the profile of an out-and-out left winger.
Iliman Ndiaye of Everton, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and AC Milan star Christian Pulisic have emerged as serious options to come in and complete the forward line.
However, the Toffees are hellbent on rejecting all approaches for their Senegalese ace, while Liverpool are in pole position for the Ivorian.
The USA international’s age and price tag have complicated matters. An economical solution has been relayed by F365.
They have stated that Barcelona, where Rashford is on loan currently, could decide not to buy the Mancunian outright as they are looking for a different profile in the market.
Michael Carrick has already made it clear that he would love to reunite with the England international, and hence, a return cannot be completely ruled out.
“Barça are delighted with Marcus Rashford, and the aim is to secure his continued presence at the club for a longer period. The problem is that at the Camp Nou, they also plan to sign a top-level center-back and a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski.
“This means there’s a possibility they won’t have the funds left to cover the cost of the English star, who also has other very attractive offers. A return to Old Trafford, where Rubén Amorim, his main rival, is no longer playing, is also a possibility.”
Interestingly, the Catalan giants are eyeing Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, among others, as a potential alternative.
“Scouts have drawn up a list of several candidates who could take on the number 14 role, and who would also arrive under very favorable conditions. For example, this is the case of Jack Grealish.
“Pep Guardiola would be willing to let go of the former Aston Villa player again and would make it as easy as possible for Barça to secure a loan with an option to buy.”
It was reportedly the Carrington graduate’s dream to play for Barcelona and sign permanently for them. This saga of “will they, won’t they” seems to be showing no signs of slowing down.
One thing is clear, United do not need Marcus Rashford, as it was his attitude that led to his implosion and eventual exit from his boyhood club.
