Marcus Thuram’s scoring burst has arrived at the right time for Inter Milan, restoring momentum to the Serie A leaders.

He ended a two and a half year wait for France by scoring in the 3-1 win against Colombia on 29 March. He then scored against Roma, Como and Cagliari, the first three-match run of his Inter career. After the Como brace he told DAZN the goal had cleared his head and he returned with more belief.

Though not a constant finisher, across the last two Serie A seasons he has recorded the most multi-goal games, five braces and one hat-trick. His 2025-2026 campaign was also checked by a left thigh muscle injury.

A winter dip followed, just one goal on 8 February against Sassuolo, across 16 appearances from early January to early April. Inter had failed to win any of their three league matches before the break but are now 12 points clear with five rounds to go, closing on another Scudetto, a second for Thuram in three seasons.

Inter host Como in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at 21:00, after a 0-0 first leg. They remain without Lautaro Martinez, whose only outing in the past two months brought a brace from two Thuram assists. Thuram is on 16 goals, one more than his first season and two fewer than his second, averaging one every 156 minutes. In Deschamps’ latest France squad, only Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé score more often, at 81 and 107 minutes.
