🚨 Mark van Bommel named Belgium head coach | OneFootball

Mark van Bommel has been appointed as the new Belgium head coach, replacing Rudi Garcia following the Red Devils' quarter-final exit at the 2026 World Cup.

The former Netherlands captain has signed a deal through to Euro 2028 and arrives with an impressive coaching CV, having previously managed PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and Royal Antwerp, where he led the club to a historic league and cup double in 2023.

"I'm incredibly honoured to become head coach of the Belgian Red Devils," Van Bommel said. "Belgium is a football country with enormous potential and a rich history. I look forward to working with this talented group and building something the fans can be proud of."

Van Bommel's first matches in charge are expected to come during the September international window as Belgium begin their Euro 2028 qualifying campaign.
