Grêmio left-back Marlon has thanked supporters after suffering a right ankle fracture and undergoing surgery, and is now back home.
According to Globo.com, he posted an image of his leg in a cast while watching Vasco v Grêmio in the eighth round of the Brasileirão, adding gratitude for prayers and positive messages since Thursday.
He had surgery on Friday, was discharged at the weekend and has been cleared to start physiotherapy. The club estimates a return in up to five months, though there is optimism it could be sooner.
The injury occurred in the second half against Vitória on the 19th. He caught his right foot in the turf and fell on the ankle, then was taken by ambulance straight to hospital.
The damage involved ligaments, but there were no ruptures to worsen the situation. Grêmio’s medical staff monitored swelling and other factors to avoid delays to the operation.
