Massara’s second season as sporting director will last only one season.
Roma’s current sporting director will leave the club at the end of the season and will likely return to France.
While the Roman club is considering a possible replacement (the most popular names so far are Manna, D’Amico, and Pradè), Marseille has reportedly set its sights on the former AC Milan sporting director.
According to FootMercato, former Roma player and director Federico Balzaretti has reportedly put Massara’s name forward.
Contacts between the parties are reportedly already well underway, and a brief conversation has already taken place between Roma’s current sporting director and former defender Mehdi Benatia.
Massara appears very interested in this opportunity, and once the season concludes, an agreement could be reached within a few days.
In addition to the names already mentioned, Roma have reportedly not yet given up on the possibility of signing Giuntoli, a free agent.
However, it’s not just the Giallorossi who are pursuing the former Napoli and Juventus sporting director: Newcastle are also reportedly strongly interested.
