Marseille in talks with Arsenal over Ethan Nwaneri loan deal | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille are working on a deal to sign Arsenal and England U21 international winger Ethan Nwaneri (18) on loan for the remainder of the 2025-2026 campaign, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. Nwaneri is short of game time this season under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta following Arsenal’s summer signings of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, despite some eye-catching cameos the previous season.

The report understands that Arsenal would allow Nwaneri a temporary switch to the Roberto De Zerbi-led Ligue 1 side, as the Premier League leaders rate the Italian as well as his style of play. Positive talks have reportedly been held between the former Brighton head coach and Arteta.

Nevertheless, no agreement has been reached as of yet, any arrangement would include a changeable loan fee, depending on Nwaneri’s appearances, and no option to buy, given the English winger remains part of Arsenal’s medium and long-term plans. Marseille host Liverpool this Wednesday for Matchday 7 of the Champions League.
