This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInterNews.

22-year-old Manchester United forward Greenwood appears to be on the verge of a move to Marseille.

The Ligue 1 clubs have made the Englishman one of their major targets in attack for the summer transfer window.

A prospect of a move for Greenwood has not been without controversy. This is due to the player’s issues off the pitch, namely accusations of domestic violence.

This had even cause the Mayor of Marseille to step in amid the links between the club and Greenwood.

Therefore, Greenwood has been hesitant to accept a move to Marseille.

However, Di Marzio reports, the Englishman is close to giving the go-ahead to Marseille. He is ready to choose the Ligue 1 club.

Several Serie A clubs had tried to capitalize on the uncertainty of Greenwood’s move to Marseille and sign the 22-year-old.

Juventus were foremost among them, Di Marzio reports. But there was also interest from Napoli, whilst Lazio reportedly made an offer worth €20 million to Manchester United.

Marseille Move For Greenwood Could Signal End To Interest In Carboni

If Marseille are to complete the signing of Greenwood, he would certainly be a major attacking signing.

The French side look ready to invest a significant amount of their transfer budget in the 22-year-old’s arrival.

Therefore, there would be questions of whether Marseille can make another big attacking signing.

The Ligue 1 side have reportedly also been negotiating to sign Inter and Argentine attacking midfielder Carboni.

The teenager is reportedly a player who new Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi is a huge admirer of.

However, Inter will not consider selling Carboni for offers lower than €30 million by all accounts.

Therefore, it is doubtful that Marseille would be able to finance a move for the Argentine if they sign Greenwood.
