Roberto De Zerbi has not been happy with his defensive options in his first season as manager of Olympique de Marseille. He has frequently played players out of position in order to compose his three-man defence, with the likes of Ulisses García and Geoffrey Kondogbia frequently playing in this sector.
The arrival of Luiz Felipe, who is yet to rediscover peak fitness since his move from Saudi Arabia to Marseille in January, has done little to alleviate the issues. As a result, further recruitment in this sector is expected this summer. According to Sky Sport Germany, Borussia Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini (30) is a target for OM.
Whilst Marseille have yet to establish contact with Bensebaini regarding a move, Sky Sport Germany understand that the Bundesliga side aren’t opposed to selling the Algeria international, whose contract expires in 2027. Marseille also have an interest in Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana and former Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte, who currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia.
