Olympique de Marseille spent part of their preparations for Sunday’s clash against Lille at the Z5 complex in Aix-en-Provence, where they were welcomed by France legend Zinedine Zidane – according to a report from La Provence.
The squad, currently on a three-game winning run in Ligue 1 following victories over Lyon, Toulouse and Auxerre, took part in a padel session organised as a team-bonding activity. Zidane, who founded the complex, was present to greet the group, with the club later sharing images of the meeting on social media. Marseille described Zidane as “the most famous Marseillais on the planet”. Sunday’s meeting with Lille at the Stade Vélodrome offers an opportunity for Marseille to extend their run before the international break and lock down a spot in the Ligue 1 podium with direct Champions League qualification. Les Phocéens lead Lyon by two points but face a Lille side who are also gunning for the European places on Sunday evening (17:15). GFFN | George Boxall
