Celtic legend Martin O’Neill has confirmed that there is a strong possibility that he remain in charge for the midweek game against Dundee.
The Scottish Champions face Hibernian at Easter Rd this afternoon and it has been expected that this would be O’Neill’s final game as interim manager. However, speaking to BBC Sportsound, the Irishman confirmed that he was likely to remain in charge as the impending appointment of Wilfried Nancy drags on.
“I thought it was going to be my last game but I got news yesterday to say that there are processes still ongoing.
“So there’s a strong possibility that I’ll still be in charge for Wednesday’s game.”
It remains to be seen what has caused the delay in appointing Nancy and Ampadu but this will mean Celtic have been without a permanent manager for five weeks. The club are indebted to MON, Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham for stepping in and stabilising the ship as well as galvanising the league season.
O’Neill has solidified his reputation as a Celtic legend and it would be a shrewd move by the club to offer MON a place on the Celtic Board.
