The club said in a statement on Monday that Mason Greenwood sustained a dead leg to his left quadriceps in the 1-2 loss to Lille, with no timeframe for his return, as part of a medical update on two players.

The winger was hurt in the 12th minute after a heavy collision with Lille’s Indonesian left-back Calvin Verdonk, and he clutched his left leg. He was replaced in the 18th minute by Ethan Nwaneri.

The medical update also covered centre-back Leonardo Balerdi, who has a right calf injury and is ruled out of the next Argentina camp. He played the full match against Lille on Sunday.

His recovery will be monitored daily. He is Ligue 1’s second top scorer on 15 goals, behind Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli on 16.

After the international break, Marseille visit Monaco on Sunday five April at 20:45, host Metz on 10 April at 21:05, then travel to Lorient on 18 April at 17:00.
