Valencia CF played on the night of Monday, October 20, the match corresponding to Matchday 9 of LALIGA EA SPORTS 2025/26 against Deportivo Alavés. The game, played at the Estadio de Mendizorroza, ended 0-0 on the scoreboard.
Not even one minute had been played when Valencia CF already created the first big chance of danger. Hugo Duro, who reached 150 official matches with the Club, connected in midfield with Javi Guerra, and the player from Gilet used his great stride to drive the ball forward and enter Sivera’s box. He passed to Danjuma, but the Dutchman arrived stretched and could not strike the ball properly. Our team imposed a frenetic rhythm at the start of the match, producing quick attacking transitions towards the opponent’s goal.
Valencia CF kept insisting, and after the first ten minutes they threatened again the goal of former Valencia CF goalkeeper Sivera. Hugo Duro passed to Danjuma, who spotted Gayà advancing on the left wing. The Pedreguer-born player delivered a dangerous low cross that the ‘babazorro’ keeper managed to collect. In the next action, Danjuma shot again at goal after an individual move from the left side. The Valencian side also stood firm and well-organised in defence.
However, Deportivo Alavés began to take control of the game and, after 27 minutes, had their first approach to the visitors’ goal. Lucas Boyé shot from inside the area, but his effort went over the crossbar. Three minutes later, the Argentine striker had another chance, but Agirrezabala denied him with a great save. The Basque side pushed hard and created several opportunities, but our players managed to hold off the opposition’s pressure until half-time.
After the break, the first chance was for Alavés, through another former Valencia CF player, Toni Martínez. Shortly after, the striker from Murcia was close to opening the scoring for the hosts after heading a set piece from the left flank. However, Agirrezabala showed his great reflexes to send the ball out for a corner. In the following action, Valencia CF counterattacked and Danjuma struck, but his shot missed the target.
During the following minutes, the ‘babazorro’ side maintained possession of the ball, while our players waited to take advantage of a counterattack. Corberán made a triple substitution, bringing on Lucas Beltrán, Santamaría and Cömert.
With five minutes left in the match, Deportivo Alavés came very close to taking the lead. Denis Suárez sent in a free kick that hit the left post of Agirrezabala’s goal.
After this result, Valencia CF will host Villarreal CF at Mestalla next Saturday, October 25, at 9:00 p.m., in Matchday 10 of LALIGA EA SPORTS 2025/26.
