Eintracht’s opponents on Saturday may only have four points on the board so far, but they are tactically flexible and have a Bayern Munich loanee in impressive form.
Tactics
In terms of tactics, Heidenheim cannot be pinned down to a fixed playing style. Over the past few games, head coach Frank Schmidt has fielded his team in a 3-4-2-1, a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2 formation, depending on the opposition and how the match is panning out.
They returned to a three-man backline against Hoffenheim last week, having previously operated with four at the back most of the time. First-choice goalkeeper Diant Ramaj will be a familiar face for Eintracht fans, having spent two years at the club.
Absentees
Heidenheim will definitely be without injured trio Frank Feller, Leart Paçarada and Sirlord Conteh, while Mikkel Kaufmann is doubtful due to adductor muscle complaints. Elias Baum and Oscar Højlund will both miss out for Eintracht with injury.
One to watch: Arijon Ibrahimovic
Arijon Ibrahimovic has developed into one of Heidenheim’s key players in recent weeks, largely playing in an attacking midfield role. The Nuremberg native, who has both German and Kosovan roots, joined the club on loan from Bayern Munich in July 2025.

Facts and figures
Heidenheim have lost all five competitive games against Eintracht to date; four in the Bundesliga and one in the DFB Cup.
The Eagles have the second-best attack in the Bundesliga in 2025/26 with 21 goals, only behind Bayern (30). Borussia Mönchengladbach are the only team to have scored fewer goals than Heidenheim’s seven.
Reunion
Ramaj joined Frankfurt from Heidenheim in 2021 but moved on to Ajax in 2023. Following spells in Dortmund and Copenhagen, the goalkeeper returned to Heidenheim on loan in summer 2025.
