After a World Cup spent as a substitute, Matt Turner is not expected to return to Lyon. The American goalkeeper remains an OL player.
According to Le Progres, Lyon are satisfied with their current options in goal, with Greif, Descamps, Diarra and Bengui available, and are doing everything to avoid bringing Turner in.

Turner was bought in 2025 by John Textor for eight million euros, then immediately loaned to the American club New England Revolution.
He has never set foot in Lyon and OL are negotiating for him to stay with New England, either via another loan or a different arrangement.
A key question in any loan is who covers his salary. Talks are under way in an unusual situation that needs a positive outcome for all parties.
