Matthis Abline completed his medical on Wednesday as he closes in on a move to Monaco, with his signing expected on Thursday morning, according to L'Équipe.

Only minor administrative points remain before the 23-year-old Nantes forward puts pen to paper.

The deal appears to suit all parties. Nantes are set for a club-record sale of around €30m, Monaco for the arrival of a long-standing target first contacted in winter, and the player for a move to a club that appealed to him.

Richer offers surfaced in recent days, including from a Premier League club and Galatasaray, while Paris FC were also serious suitors, but the move is now expected to be finalised. Abline is expected to train with Monaco as early as Thursday.

His transfer will, for now, be the largest incoming fee in Ligue 1 this summer, ahead of Patrick Zabi’s €25m switch from Reims, Ligue 2, to Paris FC.
