Lazio played newly promoted Premier League side Burnley in a pre-season friendly away from home and came away from it with a 1-0 victory. The goal came from a counter finished off by young winger Matteo Cancellieri. However, it was far from smooth sailing as Burnley hit the woodwork 3 times in this encounter.
It has been an odd summer for Lazio, given the fact that they cannot sign any new players. However, this means that players like Cancellieri, who has made a big impact in this pre-season, can get a chance during the season. He has spent the last two seasons on loan but the fans now seemingly want him to be involved with Maurizio Sarri’s first team.
Burnley had a good game and caused the Italians plenty of problems, but Lazio held strong. The game could have been settled earlier but Mattia Zaccagni missed an early penalty in the second half, but by the end it did not matter.
