Porto are assessing options for a new centre-forward to support André Silva and Deniz Gul while Samu recovers from injury, with Marcos Leonardo and Matvii Ponomarenko among the names under consideration.
Maisfutebol reports that Marcos Leonardo has been flagged by the club, and there has been no attempt yet to open talks for him or for Ponomarenko.
The Brazilian is on the books at Al Hilal after a 2023/24 spell at Benfica, where he scored seven in 21 games following his move from Santos. He began the next season at Luz with three appearances and one goal, then headed to the Middle East.
Across the last two campaigns in Saudi Arabia, he has struck 48 goals in 82 matches for one of the country’s leading clubs.
Ponomarenko, 20, broke through last season with Dynamo Kyiv in his first full professional year, returning 16 goals and one assist in 23 appearances. He has also scored once in three caps for Ukraine.
Porto’s search continues as they weigh different profiles, with Deniz Gul’s situation still open during Samu’s rehabilitation.
