According to L'Équipe, Maurizio Sarri, 67, has been appointed Atalanta head coach, reuniting with Cristiano Giuntoli, who has also joined as sporting director.
The club have entrusted first-team technical direction to the former Lazio coach.
After leaving Napoli, Sarri spent a season at Chelsea, then at Juventus, before four campaigns at Lazio. He departed after a fall-out with owner Claudio Lotito.
He replaces Raffaele Palladino, who had succeeded Ivan Juric in November following a failed transition after Gian Piero Gasperini's exit.
Sarri previously worked with Giuntoli for three years at Napoli from 2015 to 2018.
