After scoring against Senegal 3-1 and Iraq 3-0, Mbappé delivered a third brace of the tournament in France’s 3-0 win over Sweden to reach six. France’s record scorer has 62 international goals.

Messi, who recently turned 39, hit a hat-trick against Algeria 3-0 and a brace against Austria 2-0. His six have taken him to a record 19 World Cup goals, one ahead of Mbappé on 18.

Haaland secured Norway’s 2-1 win over Côte d’Ivoire on Tuesday, while Kane’s double in the 2-1 defeat of DR Congo came on Wednesday, leaving both on five. Ousmane Dembélé is on four after a hat-trick against Norway 4-1, as are Vinicius Junior and Ismaïla Sarr, the latter scoring with a fine move against Belgium on Wednesday 2-3.

Mikel Oyarzabal joined them on four with another brace against Austria on Thursday, a 3-0 win. A cluster are on three, including Matheus Cunha, Ismael Saibari, Cristiano Ronaldo, Julian Quinones, Jonathan David and Yoane Wissa.

Could others yet disrupt this order before the competition ends?
