Monaco celebrate 50 years of La Diagonale during Sunday’s 15:00 visit of Auxerre at Louis-II. According to L'Équipe, dozens of academy graduates will take a lap of honour and an all-time academy XI has been named in a 3-4-3, plus an XI of active players.

Founded in 1975, the academy has produced 149 first-team players. Nineteen became France internationals, including five world champions from 1998 to 2018, making Monaco the second-biggest supplier to Les Bleus.

The all-time XI features Jean-Luc Ettori in goal, a back three of Lilian Thuram, Sébastien Squillaci and Gaël Givet, wing-backs Manuel Amoros and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, midfielders Dominique Bijotat and Emmanuel Petit, and a front line of Thierry Henry, David Trezeguet and Kylian Mbappé.

Ettori made 755 appearances, winning three league titles and three Coupes de France. Amoros starred in the 1980s, Petit became a 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 winner. Henry and Trezeguet lifted the 1997 title before shining for France, while Mbappé burst through in 2016-17 to a league crown and European semi-final.

Squillaci and Givet underpinned the 2003 Coupe de la Ligue win and the 2004 run to the Champions League final. Thuram, blooded by Arsène Wenger, reached the 1992 Cup Winners’ Cup final. Four Monaco-formed players have scored in showpiece finals for France, Bruno Bellone, Petit, Trezeguet and Mbappé.
