Bryan Mbeumo remains keen to join Manchester United despite the appointment of Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur.
Frank has been named as the new head coach at Spurs and the ex-Brentford boss is reportedly open to a reunion with Mbeumo in North London.
However, despite interest from Spurs and Mbeumo’s relationship with Frank, the Brentford winger is giving priority to Manchester United.
The Cameroon international has informed other suitors that his preference is Old Trafford and journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Manchester United remain ‘optimistic’ about securing a deal.
Ruben Amorim’s side saw an offer worth £55m, including add-ons, rejected by Brentford earlier in the transfer window. The Bees value the 25-year-old at around £65m.
Amorim has made Mbeumo a top target as Manchester United look to rebuild from their worst league campaign since 1974. The club finished 15th in the Premier League and were the fifth-lowest scorers in the division.
Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season and added eight assists for Brentford. Talks are ongoing over a deal as United look to make their second signing of the summer. The Red Devils have already completed the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
