The next big name is being talked about at FC Bayern: according to a report from England, the Munich club are interested in Manchester City star Phil Foden. But how concrete is the interest really?

According to the TEAMtalk portal, FC Bayern are reportedly keeping an eye on the England international, with coach Vincent Kompany in particular said to be the driving force behind the move, as he is said to rate the 25-year-old highly

However, there is currently no real hot lead to the German record champions. Internally, Munich already have numerous top-class attacking players such as Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl, meaning another transfer of this magnitude does not appear to be absolutely necessary at present

Manchester City working on extension

While rumors of Bayern’s possible interest are circulating, Manchester City are apparently working hard to tie Foden to the club for the long term. The attacking player’s current contract runs until 2027

According to the report, talks about an early extension were held during the international break and the Sky Blues are apparently confident that an agreement can be reached before the end of the season

Interestingly, according to TEAMtalk, financial aspects are „unlikely to be a problem“ in the negotiations, but rather the player’s sporting prospects and the question of „how he will be deployed in the coming seasons“

Foden is a key player at City

Foden is a genuine Manchester City product and has developed into one of the most important players under Pep Guardiola. In total, the attacking player has already made 360 competitive appearances for the professionals, scoring 110 goals

He is also a regular in the squad this season, making 41 appearances and scoring ten goals, although he recently caused a stir when he was left out of the Champions League against Real Madrid
