Rennes are prioritising stability this winter, two points off the top three after six wins in their last seven. They could still add an attacking midfielder to revive European qualification after two seasons out.
According to L'Équipe, coach Habib Beye, sporting director Loïc Désiré and president Arnaud Pouille are tempted by Fenerbahçe’s Sebastian Szymanski, 26. Outgoings are minimal, with keeper Gauthier Gallon joining Dender, while Glen Kamara, Ludovic Blas and Seko Fofana are set to stay.
Al-Hilal are pushing for Kader Meïté, the 18-year-old France Under-21 forward, who made a first start against PSG in a 1-4 defeat on 8 March. A major Premier League club has also shown interest and could act if the door opens this month.
Rennes want to extend Meïté by two years and plan to shut the door this winter, with no need to sell. Even so, a major offer could change minds.
Centre-backs Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, 19, and Jérémy Jacquet, 20, under contract to 2028 and 2029 respectively, have also drawn big clubs. Jacquet is on the radar of Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The plan is to keep them until summer, unless the market shifts.
Potential fees could near club records, led by Jérémy Doku’s €66m sale to Manchester City and Désiré Doué’s move to PSG at about €60m including bonuses. Estéban Lepaul, Ligue 1’s third-top scorer with nine goals, has admirers in Germany and Italy, but he does not plan to leave and Rennes are not open to talks.
