Memphis Depay’s camp have reworked fixed and variable pay in a proposed Corinthians deal but insist on a three-year contract, with talks viewed as at their limit and in need of a swift decision.
Football executive Marcelo Paz said before the 3-0 win over Remo that a resolution would arrive by Sunday or Monday, positive or negative, speaking to sportv.
Memphis wants three years to spread more than R$ 40 million in debt into smaller, affordable instalments.
Corinthians offered two years and view three as difficult, given this administration’s short deals, and the striker is 32.
In the latest talks they cut the fixed element and lifted performance bonuses. Memphis accepted a lower base tied to results and trophies.
His camp want a quick conclusion so he can return from holiday in Spain and report to head coach Fernando Diniz.
The final call sits with president Osmar Stabile, after consultations with finance and football staff and political allies.
Opponents question the cost-benefit, pointing to form and fitness issues. This year he has played 14 games, with one goal and one assist, after aiding 2024 survival and featuring in the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil wins and the 2026 Supercopa Rei.
