Corinthians face Novorizontino on Saturday at 20:30 at Estádio Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi, the Jorjão, in a one-off Campeonato Paulista semi-final. The tie offers Memphis Depay a chance to halt his barren spell and avoid equalling his worst sequence without a goal for the club.
According to Meu Timao, the No 10 is eight matches without scoring and has yet to find the net in 2026. His last goal came on 21 December 2025 in the Copa do Brasil final, a 2-1 win over Vasco da Gama at the Maracanã.
He subsequently drew blanks against Bahia, Red Bull Bragantino, Athletico-PR and Cruzeiro in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The sequence continued in the Supercopa do Brasil against Flamengo and in Paulistão action versus Capivariano and Portuguesa. He did provide an assist in the 3-0 victory over Capivariano.
One major chance to end it came in the derby defeat at Neo Química Arena. With the score 0-0 against Palmeiras, he slipped taking a penalty and shot wide as Corinthians lost 1-0.
His previous longest drought ran from July to November 2025 while he recovered from an ankle sprain and a left hamstring problem. Even so, he finished the year as the club’s second top scorer with 12 goals, behind Yuri Alberto on 19.
Depay entered 2026 under medical care after a bone oedema in his left knee late last year. He played through the decisive Copa do Brasil ties, then spent about 20 days out and made his first appearance of the year in the team’s sixth match.
A return to scoring could be timely for Dorival Júnior’s side, with Yuri Alberto, the team’s 2026 leading scorer on three, sidelined since the last group game by a grade 2 injury to the left biceps femoris. Since joining in September 2024, Depay has played 73 games, winning 39, drawing 16 and losing 18, with 19 goals and 15 assists, and has lifted the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil plus the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil.
